Great article. Just a typo: it was Arago (and not "Argo").

The Daguerrotype photos are so sharp and clean, they could've been take with a 1DX (hyperbole much). I'm loving your writing, and these history lessons are sweet.

The lack of cheezy smiles may illustrate a world before modern dentistry. Also, try to hold a smile for the several minutes necessary for a Daguerreotype exposure, with your head clamped stiffly. Ouch. We don't see many grins in photo-portraits from the days of ASA 1.

Otherwise, another outstanding article series on photographic pop-history. Roger, I hope you venture soon into the phenomenon of the Camera Fiend. Yes, there was a time when these forerunners of paparazzi were considered a verminous plague. Jolly good fun, eh?

Great series. Maybe someday you could publish this work as a short history of open photographic dilemmas. What's a good history without a lot of opinions?

The other day I was told by one of your employees that I might have a hard time buying large amounts of ferricyanide for cyanotype printing... I wonder why?
