Very simple: saving your (and our) gear. The Canon Powershot D10 is a unique camera with built in image stabilization, but not because its images are so spectacular (although they are pretty good 12 Megapixel images). Not because it is so small and convenient (they’ll fit in a pocket), not even because your six year old can use the Powershot D10 (they can).
The Powershot D10 is shockproof for a 4 foot drop and waterproof to a depth of 33 feet. It is also freezeproof to 14 degrees. You can take it whitewater rafting, out in a hurricane, into the swimming pool, snorkeling, and 116 other places we’d really prefer you not take our SLR cameras. Swim with the Dolphins on your cruise? – Got it! Shots of your buddy surfing 6 feet away? – Got it!.
