Camera - Sony HVR-Z7U HDV
The smaller, lighter, handheld version of Sony’s HVR-S270U professional camcorder. The Z7U is one of the first prosumer camcorders to feature an interchangeable lens system with a bayonet mount, which allows for standard 1/3" HD video lenses from a variety of manufacturers to be attached directly to the camera body. 2/3" or 1/2" lenses can be used with an adapter. An adapter can also allow the use of lenses designed for Sony’s digital SLR cameras. The Z7U has 1080p recording capability and simultaneous recording to Compact Flash and MiniDV tape.
The Z7U comes with the Zeiss 12x Optical Zoom lens standard, but this camcorder is also compatible with other 1/3" HD lenses with a bayonet mount, including the Fujinon 17×5
Mike’s Take: A camera that can be handheld, records to MiniDV tape and to CF cards at the same time, and has interchangeable lenses. Sounds good to me. And it’s a joy to use. No shoulder mount, but that’s not really what it was designed for. And you can always add one
