Considered Canon’s best midrange zoom (perhaps the best midrange zoom of any SLR manufacturer). Compared to the 24-105, it has a little less range and does not have IS. However, it’s a full stop faster, may be sharper, and exhibits less distortion, especially at the wide end.
For Sale: We have one copy of the 24-70 f2.8 L lens rotating out of stock. Excellent condition, perfect glass and mechanicals, with hood. The glass and mechanicals are flawless, there are minor scuffs on the lens hood and caps, and a couple of tiny scratches on the barrel. Selling for $1020. As always, there is a 3 day inspection period with no questions asked return for refund and a 90 day warranty against failure during normal use with this lens.
Roger’s take: I’m frequently asked “24-105 or 24-70”. There isn’t a right answer, they’re both great. The advantages of the 24-105 are smaller size, greater range and IS. The 24-70 has less distortion and wider apertures. My choice is 24-70 for portraits and architectural shooting, 24-105 for walking around and to take on vacation. But that’s just me.
