One of Canon’s most popular L-series lenses, the 70-200 f/4 is fairly small and lightweight, easy to carry all day. Its image quality is superb— most agree its as sharp as the 70-200 f/2.8. It is a stop slower than its f/2.8 cousins and does not have IS, so others may be a better choice if shooting in poor lighting or when fast shutter speeds are desired. The 70-200 f/4L IS is similarly light but includes IS, which might also be a better compromise.
