Canon EOS 40D

Canon’s top of the 1.6 crop factor line of cameras. The 40D makes some significant improvements over the 30D (which we never bought), enough to convince us it was time to stock the prosumer crop cameras again.

With a 10.1 Mpix low-noise sensor and 14 bit color conversion dynamic range, the 40D is improved over earlier models allowing ISO of up to 1600 in standard mode with a 3200 ISO “expanded” option. Shooting speed is increased to 6.5 frames per second for up to 75 jpg or 17 RAW images, and autofocusing is improved, especially with f2.8 and faster lenses. The two biggest improvements we’ve noted are more accurate and faster autofocus and truly improved performance at high ISO and in shadow detail.

All of our cameras ship with one fully charged battery and the battery charger.
