Canon EOS 1DC

Available Today

The Canon EOS 1DC is the fraternal twin of the Canon 1DX, with a focus towards cinematographers. The 1DC adds the ability to shoot 4K video to Compact Flash cards to the 1DX’s skill set, making it the one of the more affordable interchangeable lens 4K acquisition options.

Other features the 1DC boasts, are great low light performance (with ISO ranges of 100-51,200), and a layout and ergonomics familiar to DSLR shooters. The crucial addition of a headphone jack, aids audio monitoring.

On the photo side of things the camcorder provides, a 61 point auto-focus system as well as the ability to burst shoot in RAW up to 12fps.

While Canon is offering a higher capacity LP-E4N battery with the 1DC, it’s still backwards-compatible with previous LP-E4 batteries.

WARNING: Canon recommends the use of UDMA-7 CF memory cards with the Canon EOS 1DC.

The 1DC is a great camera for shooters who are comfortable with the form factor of a DSLR and are looking for 4K resolution. The lack of XLR audio inputs, external audio leveling, onboard filtration, and exposure monitors leave something to be desired, but hey, 4K resolution on CF cards!
