Fuji X-E1

The Fuji X-E1 is the second mirrorless camera offering from Fuji. Think of it as the Fuji X-Pro1’s baby brother, but don’t tell it that. It features the same 16MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS sensor that was originally seen in the X-Pro1, allowing for the same image quality in a smaller, lighter weight camera. Where it differs is the viewfinder offering. While the X-Pro1 included Fuji’s hybrid optical viewfinder technology, as well as an electronic viewfinder, the X-E1 foregoes the hybrid and just includes a 2.36 million dot OLED electronic viewfinder with a built-in diopter.
The classic designed camera body is made of magnesium alloy, providing a very sturdy build. The 2.8" 460K dot rear LCD allows for easy setting adjustment and image review, but is a bit lower quality than the X-Pro1. Improved contrast detection provides the X-E1 with much improved autofocus performance, with its 6 fps high speed continuous mode allowing you to shoot in burst. From a control and settings standpoint, the X-E1 is nearly the same as it’s big brother. There’s a slightly different button layout, which is it be expected from a smaller camera, but otherwise they’re very similar. The X-E1 does gain a built-in pop-up flash for use in very poorly lit conditions. Also a new addition is a 3.5mm mic input jack, allowing you to use an external microphone when recording video. Video specs otherwise are identical to the X-Pro1, with full HD 1080P at 24fps, recorded in H.264 (MOV) with stereo sound.
