Nikon’s newest full frame (FX format) SLR, the D700 offers many of the D3’s remarkable features in a smaller body – 12 megapixels with clean images up to ISO 6400; dynamic range regulation; improved chromatic aberration control; automated sensor cleaning; etc. It also retains the acclaimed 3 inch, 920,000 pixel LCD and has a built in flash for fill lighting, etc all in a package about 1/2 the size of the D3.
Roger’s take: I pick this one! Its perfect for me – the image quality and high ISO performance of the D3 in a package half the size. Yes, there are some times I want the D3s special features, but not very often. The D700 is the perfect blend of performance for size and price that I want.
