Fluid Head and Tripod - Heavy Duty
With tandem leg sections, a 75mm bowl, and a smooth fluid video head, this video tripod kit is a perfect complement to many of the HDV cameras being introduced to the market.
The 503 HDV head was built to support up to 17.8 pounds and provides smooth control with light but positive fluid movement and has a tilt range of -60 to 90 degrees.
The aluminum alloy tripod is a one stage (meaning longer leg tubes with fewer joints), and provides a more rigid support while requiring less setup time.
Mike’s Take: This is a medium-heavy fluid head, good for use with any camera we carry and a few accessories. I wouldn’t use this tripod/head combo fully loaded with everything (EX1, EX3, or HVX200, with shotgun mic, Letus adapter, matte box, and follow focus) because of weight concerns. Other then that, you’ll be good.
Also, it’s heavy to carry around all day in addition to all of your gear. If you’re a photographer who’s used to 5 pound tripods, start lifting some weights before you choose to lug this around all day.
