Gigapan imager

The Gigapan camera is a simple robotic platform that uses the technology originally developed for the Mars Exploration Rovers to capturing very high-resolution (gigapixel and up) panoramic images from a standard point and shoot digital camera. A point and shoot is used because of the greater depth of field its smaller sensor offers.

We are only able to purchase theses as part of the Gigapan beta testing system, so for our members to use this unit you must have one of the point and shoot cameras listed below, have a Mac or PC with at least 2Gb or RAM to process the panoramas, and agree to upload at least one panorama per week of use to the Gigapan beta test site.
