![]() The 35mm Biogon is an extremely compact lens, especially considering its wide aperture. Its design and coatings provide excellent flare resistance and its popular for photojournalism and street photography. With a bit more distortion than some lenses, it may not be quite as good for architectural work, but then this focal length isn’t particularly suited to that work anyway. Zeiss M-mount lenses do not come with a lens hood. Roger’s take: This can be a very good, and very cost-effective alternative to the Leica 35mm lens offerings. First, the lens works best if you choose the “35mm Summicron pre asph” option from the selection menu (thank you, Steve Huff): without that it vignettes rather significantly. Properly set up its quite sharp (not quite as sharp, perhaps as the Lecia 35s, but very close). It renders colors a bit warmer than the Leica, too, which I prefer for landscape and street shooting. And this lens has about the least distortion of anything ever. Virtually nil. Specs:
