We have had a number of requests for a higher resolution medium format camera and are pleased to add the HDH-50 to our lineup.
The HD4-50 featurs a 6×4.5 format image (49.1 × 36.7mm sensor) capturing a 50 megapixel image in 16 bit depth at an ISO range from 50 to 800. The resolution and bit depth result in an average 65Mb size RAW 3FR image and the camera is capable of processing one image per second. Shutter speed ranges from 1/8000 to 128 seconds.
It has Autofocus metering with passive central cross-type sensor in spot, center weighted, and center spot modes.
Autofocus is provided by a single center cross-point and with the H4D Hasselblad has introduced the True Focus system for focus-recompose shooting. This system consists of motion sensors built into the camera which allow the camera’s processors to correct for position changes during recomposing. As a result the camera adjusts the autofocus to account for any changes, allowing accurate focus even at the shallowest depth-of-field (this even can adjust when using a tilt-shift adapter).
This kit includes the HC 80mm f/2.8 (equivalent to a 58mm lens in 35 mm format). It has an f/2.8 to f/32 aperture range and provides the ideal “do everything” lens with nice wide aperture and very useful focal length.
The H4D-50 captures images in Hassleblad’s proprietary 3F RaW (3FR) RAW format which can be converted to Adobe Digital Negative (DNG) format through the included Hassleblad Phocus image processing software. We include one copy of the Phocus software with the camera rental. The software is graphics processor intensive: if you do not have a reasonably powerful graphics card in your computer, it will run very slowly.
The H4D-50 requires UDMA compliant CF cards and holds approximately 110 images per 8 GB card. It can also shoot tethered to Macintosh or PC computers via a FireWire 800 connection.
The Hasselblad H4D-40 has crop factor of 0.71×. This means any compatibile lens you mount to this camera, you will multiply the given focal length by 0.71 to calculate the 35mm-equivalent focal length.
Note before renting: If you are a first-time renter with us, we will require a copy of your certificate of insurance or a deposit to rent this system. It will take 24 hours to process this item for first time renters.
