Mic - Rode NTG-2 shotgun
The Rode NTG-2 is a condenser shotgun microphone.
The NTG-2 is ideal for mounting directly to video cameras. It can operate from an internal 1.5V AA battery or external +48V phantom source.
Being a shotgun mic, the super-cardioid polar pattern minimizes off-axis noise, good for when using the NTG-2 in noisy ambient environments. The NTG-2’s frequency response covers 20-20,000 Hz, with an optional high pass filter at 80Hz to prevent excess handling noise.
The NTG-2 comes complete with shock mount, windscreen and 6 inch XLR to mini cable (if you need XLR to XLR we rent them separately in 3ft and 25ft lengths) . The windscreen effectively suppresses wind noise when recording outdoors in very moderate conditions. The shock mount fits a hotshoe or boom pole. Output is via XLR.
Mike’s Take: A decent shotgun mic with low noise for when you need a clean signal at a distance. Great for nat sound and on-camera interviews when you don’t have time to wire up a lavalier mic.
