A tiny ‘pancake’ prime lens for use with Micro 4/3 cameras, the 20mm f/1.7 looks right at home on a GF-1 or E-P2 camera. Despite its tiny size, the lens has 7 elements in 5 groups and a 7 curved blade aperture system, making sharp images and smooth out-of-focus highlights.
Panasonic camera bodies automatically correct for lens distortion when this lens is mounted (Olympus bodies do not) so the lens will function better on a Panasonic body. It does exhibit some barrel distortion and chromatic aberration when shot on other cameras. But overall its remarkably good for a lens this tiny, better than the zooms most people shoot on Micro 4/3 cameras.

This is the lens you want with your micro 4/3 camera. It’s a tiny, pancake lens that actually allows you to pocket your “pocket” camera. Don’t let it’s size fool you. The 20mm f/1.7 gives wonderfully sharp images with the fastest micro 4/3 lens to date. Yes, it’s body is basically plastic, but the results make it worth it. If I don’t have a Leica or Nikon lens with an adapter on the camera, this is what I reach for.
