The SLR Magic 50mm f0.95 Hyperprime is a super fast manual focus lens for the Micro 4/3 mirrorless cameras. The f0.95 aperture, which allows for an extremely shallow depth-of-field, in combination with the 100mm-equivalent focal length makes for a great portrait lens. With such a wide aperture, shooting in very low light is also possible. It features a stepless aperture ring with a locking screw to lock your chosen aperture in place. The manual focus ring is very smooth with a nice throw, which will work wonderful for video work as well as still photography.

This is a pretty fun lens to play around with. It’s f0.95 aperture gives very nice background separation with a creamy bokeh. Don’t expect corner sharpness with this guy. It takes stopping down to f11 to give even remotely sharp corners, which is a silly thing to do with a f0.95 lens. You get decent center sharpness at f0.95, but stopping down to f1.4 will sharpen it up quite nice if that’s your aim. One suggestion when shooting with this lens is to use the locking screw on the aperture ring. I noticed several times while manual focusing that I had accidentally turned the aperture ring as well. This can easily be fixed by using the locking screw. If there is one downside to this lens, it is the somewhat low-contrast images. While you can adjust contrast levels in post to a reasonable degree, it would be nice if it was already there.
