Designed for Micro 4/3rds, the Olympus 12-50mm covers a broad range of 24-100mm (35mm-equivalent), giving users a high-quality, do-anything lens. This lens is very small and lightweight considering it’s range; however, build quality remains quite high. It’s the first dust and splashproof lens option for Micro 4/3rds users, making shooting in sub-par conditions feasible.
Using a near-silent Linear Motor Drive, the 12-50 EZ allows quick, accurate focus for both stills and video. The zoom ring is of clutch design, allowing users to quickly change from manual to power-zoom. If the Macro button is held, the clutch also switches to Macro mode, allowing focusing as close as 7.87". Thanks to the 2 aspherical elements and multi-coating on all lens sufaces, the Olympus 12-50 EZ boasts extremely high image quality. For a walk-around or travel use zoom lens, it definitely delivers.
