Nikon’s (maybe anybody’s) best medium telephoto lens, with fast f/2.8 aperture and Vibration Reduction system that is equivalent to 3 stops of stabilization when shooting hand-held. The lens is weather resistant and is an excellent performer at everything from sports to portrait photography.
If you’ve never shot with this, you should. It really is as good as everyone says. Its by far our most popular Nikon lens, and although we have 51 copies and are adding more every month, a reservation is recommended.
Roger’s take: The classic, wide aperture medium telephoto zoom. Every manufacturer’s got one and there’s a reason for it—it is probably the most useful lens in the toolkit. Its very sharp, autofocuses in a heartbeat, great for everything from sports to long portraits. Just an all around, excellent lens that no one is ever disappointed with.
