For crop frame cameras, the Tamron 18-270 is the latest entrant in the one-lens, do-it-all superzoom category. The 15x zoom is the largest zoom range of any such lens, and at 18mm the Tamron actually covers a bit of the wide angle range. The Vibration Control system helps get sharp images at the telephoto end. The lens contains low dispersion elements to minimize chromatic aberration.

Roger’s take: This lens competes in one of the most crowded segments of the market with the Sigma 18-200, Tamron 28-300, and Nikon 18-200. To be perfectly honest there’s not a lot to differentiate them except the 18-270 provides a bit more range, and the Nikon has a bit better image quality.
