![]() The newest addition to our Zeiss lineup, the 18mm f/3.5 is now the widest prime in the ZF family. It is, like all the ZFs, a manually focusing lens but D200/300, D700, and D3 cameras will automatically adjust exposure with the lens. The 18 provides low distortion with that wonderful Zeiss contrast and sharpness. Roger’s take: I’ve enjoyed this lens a lot. It provides good corner to corner resolution and sharpness and that unique Zeiss microcontrast. I find it actually sharper close up compared to at infinity with all 3 copies we have, similar to the Zeiss 25mm. But I’m in the minority there, the professional reviewers haven’t mentioned that. It vignettes pretty significantly even at f/5.6 so I’d plan on shooting in raw to remove that in postprocessing.
