Nikon SB-900 Speedlight

The SB-900 is Nikon’s top-of-the-line flash with 132’ guide number, FX/DX format identification, and the ability to flash for lenses from 12mm to 200mm from 2 to 66 feet away. The SB-900 also is capable of controlling up to three remote flashes and has a full tilt and swivel range.

The SB-900 is a great high-output speedlight. It’s gotten a bad wrap due to the overheating issues it suffered, but it’s still a great flash as long as you’re not shooting in rapid succession. The fully articulating head enables flash bouncing in both portrait and landscape orientation, and the built-in Nikon CLS commander mode is great for triggering other compatible off-camera Nikon speedlights. If you’re shooting from a far distance, a large event or wedding and need an on-camera flash, the SB-900 is a great choice. If shooting faster, go with the SB-910.
