The RadioPopper PX kit is an advanced radio transmitter and receiver kit for Nikon that allows i-TTL triggering with compatible Speedlights. It basically piggybacks on the Nikon wireless flash system (CLS) giving improved performance. It offers a useable range of 1500ft (various conditions will lessen this). You’ll have freedom from line-of-sight restrictions, as well as more reliability. It has 16 user-selectable channels to ensure interference-free shoots.
Since it uses the Nikon CLS, you’ll need either an SU800 or Nikon Master Speedlight on-camera to attach the PX transmitter to via velcro (included) If you’re using a Nikon camera that allows the pop-up flash to be set to Commander mode, then a separate unit is not necessary. The receiver then attaches to your i-TTL compatible Speedlight via included bracket. With the TTL information being transmitted, quick flash adjustments can be done through the Exposure Compensation dial on your camera. It offers full compatibility with the High-Speed Sync mode, so sync speeds of up to 1/8000 second are possible (at the expensive of light output).
If you are using one of these Nikon Cameras, they offer a built-in Commander Mode: D80, D90, D200, D300, D300s, D5100, D7000 & D700. If your camera isn’t listed, then you will need an on-camera Master unit.
The PX transmitter can work with any of the following as a Master unit:
The PX receiver unit only works with the following Nikon Speedlight flashes off-camera:
- (1) PX Transmitter w/antenna
- (1) PX Receiver w/antenna
- Flash Bracket (2 pieces)
- Pop-Up Flash Transmitter Bracket
- Velcro strip
Please Note: Both transmitter and receiver require 2 AAA batteries (4 total), which we do not provide.
