The Sigma 100-300 provides a unique lens not quite matched by anything else. Its fairly small and light for a zoom telephoto (similar in size to Canon’s 70-200 f/2.8L) and with a fixed f4.0 aperture is faster at 300mm than the 100-400 and other telephoto zooms. Its quite sharp and fairly easy to handhold in good light. Image quality is very similar to the Canon 100-400. Numerous reviewers state that this, along with the 120-300 f2.8, is the best lens Sigma makes.
