An extremely sharp telephoto-macro lens. A superb lens with true 1:1 magnification for Macro shots, it is also an excellent midrange telephoto lens. The 150mm range allows more working distance when shooting Macro than the 100mm Macro lens. At the same time the lens is light enough to handhold (although a tripod is recommended for close macro work).
Personally, we love the working distance you get with this lens and the images it produces. Autofocus can be described as “leisurely at best” but that’s really not an issue with a Macro lens. We find it works best if we manually focus to the vicinity of the subject, then turn on autofocus if we want to.
