This is a rather controversial lens. On the positive side it’s a very wide aperture, wide angle lens – rather uniquely so. Users of this lens either love it or hate it. Its large for a wide angle prime, especially in diameter (note the 82mm filters). Wide open at f1.8, its quite soft except at the center, and this setting is best used for ‘special effects’. Stopped down to f 2.4 or so, it is very sharp. There have been reports that it has trouble autofocusing in low light, but since anything more than a few feet away is ‘infinity’ at this focal length, manual focus is quite easy.
It can focus as close as 7 inches allowing some interesting ‘wide angle pseudomacro’ shots.

It is flawless mechanically, electrically, and optically and grades in our 9/10 condition, although it does have a non-original generic front cap. It comes with a 3 day inspection period during which you can return them for refund if not completely happy. $449.
