Its trite to say “this changes everything” but this does. A point and shoot camera body (4.5" by 2.3") containing a full SLR size Foveon sensor and a high quality, fixed 28mm f4 lens.

For those of you who’ve always wondered what the Foveon sensor could really do, here’s an opportunity to check it out first hand without buying a new camera and lenses. For others, here’s a chance to take SLR quality images with a camera that can fit your jacket pocket.

Is it perfect? Absolutely not. It struggles at high ISO a bit— compared to a high end SLR anyway, though it’s vastly better than any point and shoot— and Foveon sensors, great as they are, don’t handle intense reds well. But there’s absolutely nothing else even remotely like it. A point and shoot camera with image quality on a par with your SLR. Very cool.

Thanksgiving Sale: We have our last copy of the DP-1 for part of our Thanksgiving sale. It has hardly been used (rented about 3 weeks) which is why we’re selling it. We’re including the $149 flash with this sale since we won’t need the flash anymore. Includes battery and charger, of course.
