Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 EX DC OS HSM for Sony

Available Today

The Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM is a normal range zoom lens designed specifically for DSLRs with an APS-C sensor. A fast f2.8 maximum aperture makes it great for low-light event shooting, as well as on-the-go portraits. The lens features Sigma’s built-in 4-stop OS to further aid low-light shooting. Sigma has minimized optical defects such as aberrations and ghosting/flaring by utilizing aspherical and low dispersion elements, as well as their Super Multi-Layer coating. This makes for a highly versatile lens that’s been designed from the ground-up for crop-frame shooters.

Only Works With: APS-C crop sensor Alpha cameras

Please Note: While this lens has a built-in Optical Stabilizer, it is not recommended to use this and the in-camera Sony SteadyShot together. It will not give you double stabilization. Instead, all images will appear blurry. Therefore, if you’re using one method, turn the other off.

Another upgraded Sigma lens that is really quite excellent. The major comparison would be to the Sony 16-50 f/2.8. Both are very good lenses and you’ll probably be quite happy with either one. The Sigma is a bit more expensive and may have better corners particularly at the wide end of the zoom range. That’s about all the difference I can see.
