The premier standard-range zoom for Sony cameras, the Zeiss 24-70 is fast, accurate, and sharp. It is a very heavy chunk of glass, but not so heavy that you’d have trouble carrying it around all day. The auto-focus is surprisingly quick and quiet. Even better, the fast 2.8 aperture operates through the entire zoom range.

Sony has now joined the ‘big boys’ with having a world-class standard range, f/2.8 zoom. It’s superbly sharp, and I’m picky about that, I usually shoot with primes. This is one of the few zooms that I’ll take the images right out of the camera without post-processing much at all. Autofocus is quick and sure. It’s not a tiny lens by any means, but it balances well on the camera and certainly isn’t too heavy to carry around all day.
