A strong, fast midrange zoom, the Tamron is smaller and lighter than any other f/2.8 aperture standard range zoom. Canon and Nikon shooters often choose this over the 24-70mm f/2.8 zooms from their own manufacturers: it has a wide aperture, is extremely sharp, and is significantly less expensive.

The Tammy is the best lens that nobody knows about, and possibly the best bang-for-the-buck of any camera lens, period. It’s very sharp at f/4 and reasonably sharp at f/2.8, small and light, which can be important when traveling. And the price is hard to beat!
