![]() One of the best lenses Zeiss (or anyone else) makes in the near-telephoto range. It’s amazingly sharp, can focus as closely as 3 feet, and, with internally focusing ED glass, it provides superbly quick focus with no chromatic aberration. And at f/1.8, it’s the fastest lens made in this range, by anyone. A remarkable lens. Roger’s Take: One of the reasons we decided to carry the Alpha system instead of some other brands was the chance to use the marvelous Zeiss lenses made for the Alpha system. This may actually be the best of all the Zeiss glass, and certainly at 135mm and f/1.8. It’s also a pretty large lens, weighing almost 2.5 pounds. And it’s absolutely spectacular: The depth of field is as narrow as you could want, the out of focus areas are buttery smooth, and it’s sharp even wide open.
