One of the attractions of the Sony system is availability of the superb Carl Zeiss zoom lenses. Famed for their excellent contrast and sharpness, these lenses have a different ‘look’ than the standard Sony zooms, with slightly different color and great clarity.

The 16-80mm provides an extremely useful focal length and is a superb ‘walk-around’ lens.

Roger’s Take: A very nice, standard range walk-around lens. It is very sharp with excellent contrast and colors, like all of the Zeiss-Sony zooms. It does get a bit sharper stopped down 1 stop, but is certainly acceptable wide open. I really like the size of the lens, which makes it a great choice on a crop-frame camera for an everyday zoom.
