The Sony 16mm f2.8 E is a wide angle lens that is compatible with Sony NEX cameras, including the Sony FS100U. It gives NEX users a small, lightweight 24mm-equivalent wide angle lens option. With an aperture of f2.8, you can shoot in somewhat low-light and get decent results. The internal stepping motor provides for smooth, silent AF whether shooting stills or video.

For a wide angle E-mount lens, the Sony 16mm is a decent option. It’s not the highest quality lens, but it’s currently the only native wide-angle option available. Like many other wide angle lenses, the Sony 16mm leaves a lot to be desired as far as corner sharpness goes. If your shooting on a tripod and can stop down to f8, then you’ll get pretty good results. However, if your goal is the shoot landscapes or off-center portraits at f2.8, then you’ll be a tad disappointed. Do be aware that it has some distortion as well, so keep the ladies in the middle of the frame!
