The first zoom lens released for the NEX cameras, the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 E OSS is an inexpensive consumer grade zoom lens. It serves as a standard, walk-around lens for shooting in good light. We stock both silver and black versions of this lens. If you have a preference, you can request your preferred version in the special instructions box when placing the order.
Please Note: This lens works with Sony NEX cameras like the NEX-5R & NEX-7, not with Sony A-mount SLRs.

Momma said if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. So let’s see… Well, it’s very round, and the aluminum version looks very nice in sunlight, with little reflections bouncing off of the zoom ring. It’s not really large, and fits easily in a jacket pocket, which is where you should keep it rather than mounted to a camera.
Actually, it’s not a horrible lens, it’s an average or slightly below average image quality consumer grade zoom. My frustration with Sony is that there is no good quality zoom for the NEX. This one is OK for snapshots, etc.
