The Sony 35mm f/1.8 E OSS is a fast-aperture normal range prime lens for Sony NEX cameras and camcorders. With a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 53mm, it’s a great choice for street / reportage style photography, as well as event and portrait photography. It offers users a shallow depth of field for subject isolation when shot wide open at f/1.8, and Sony’s built-in OSS provides up to 4-stops of stabilization for still and video shooting.
The 35mm OSS features a high-speed linear AF motor that provides fast, silent autofocus. It also has an in-lens stepping motor that independently controls aperture adjustments. These two design choices allow for great performance when shooting video, with little to no audible noise during operation. Its high quality optics provide sharp images throughout the aperture range, and optical flaws such as spherical aberration and coma are kept to a minimum. At just 1.77" in length, it’s a perfect lens to keep in your bag for everyday shooting.
