The Sony 55-210mm f/4.5-6.3 E OSS gives NEX users an 82-315mm full-frame equivalent zoom. This lens has a versatile short-to-long telephoto range. The wide range is great for bringing your subject closer to you, no matter how far away it is. Internal focusing gives you smooth, responsive autofocus, with minimum noise—perfect for capturing video. This lens features Sony’s Optical SteadyShot, giving users the ability to captures images and video with minimun camera shake. Two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements help to suppress chromatic aberration color bleeding at all focal lengths, giving good image quality throughout the zoom range.

This is a decent telephoto range zoom for the NEX E-mount cameras. For kids’ sports, or just-for-fun wildlife, this lens will work fine. It has Sony’s image stabilization which works pretty well, so that’s a definite plus. As far as image quality goes, it’s on par with everyone else’s consumer-grade telephoto zooms. It’s not going to give you “pro” quality, but the NEX system isn’t marketed as that… so far.
