Lensrentals Bullseye

Lensrentals Bullseye

Sometimes we think a great idea needs a little tweaking. We love the idea of a lightweight setup that will give enough stability to shoot SLR video with a small, lightweight rig. But the systems we tried seemed a bit heavier than we wanted and the gunstock a bit narrower than we liked. So we got some of our favorite pieces and made our own for half the cost.

Using a RedRock Micro Brace with a couple of clamps and a standard Manfrotto RC2 quick release system and included camera mounting plate. It gives us a nice, comfortable SLR mount that’s great for a bit of extra stability when shooting photos at longer exposure of for shooting a little spontaneous video without carrying a full shoulder mount around. It weighs under a pound and breaks down to fit in a 10×6×3 inch space. One flip of the lever and the camera is free to use without the brace.

This is appropriate for an SLR camera and small to medium size lens. Its not going to work well if you need matte boxes, follow focus, or a large telephoto lens.
