Tripod - Giottos MT-7261 Basalt
Our sturdiest tripod, the Giottos Lava (basalt) tripod can carry a load up to 23 pounds. The three-section, multiply adjustable basalt legs are as light as carbon fiber but a bit stiffer. Height adjusts from 25 to 66 inches and there is a built in bubble level at the tripod base. Comes in a carrying bag with shoulder strap. Does not include tripod head, which can be rented separately.
This is a sturdy tripod suitable for use with large telephoto lenses. It is lightweight but because of its 3 section leg somewhat stiffer and less prone to vibration than the 4 section Velbon tripod. Of course, that makes it quite a bit longer in the collapsed position and less convenient to carry.
