Tripod head: Gimbal type
This is the Digital Video (based in India) shameless knock off of the Wimberley full gimbal head. Very well made of anodized aluminum, we must add. While we love the Sidekick for medium to large telephoto lenses, this is a must have for the very large lenses such as the 400 f2.8 and probably the ‘smoothest’ way to shoot the 500 f4. It provides superb stability (so you don’t tip over your tripod with our lens attached) and makes maneuvering the lens effortless.
And to be honest we’re all a little more comfortable seeing a 15 pound lens being supported by a substantial piece of metal, aren’t we?
