Canon HV40

Unlike the HG21, the HV40 can record to miniDV tape which many users still prefer. They will even play back Sony HDV 24p tapes, which the Sony Z7U can create.
The HV40 features a 2.96 megapixel full HD CMOS sensor with a 10x Image Stabilized optical zoom lens. It records full HD (1920 X 1080) video output to HDV tape and still photos to miniSD cards. Standard recording mode is 30p, but it does have a 24p optional mode.
The HV40 has a 2.7" LCD screen and HDMI connection port. Also, a top mounted accessory shoe can accept a light or shotgun microphone. It is capable (if anyone wants to) of taking 3 megapixel still shots.
