The Panasonic HVX200 is a 1/3 inch CCD based camera that records to P2 format cards.
A 32GB card will record 32 minutes of the highest quality 1080p HD video, 90 minutes of 720p/24 frame video or over 2 hours of standard definition DVCPRO25 or consumer DV video. It has an updated sensor; the sensor yields higher sensitivity, creating less noise in low-light situations. The unit is compatible with DVCPRO HD, DVCPRO50, DVCPRO25 and consumer DV recording standards.
The camera comes with a Leica Dicomar lens 13X zoom lens with 15 elements (3 aspherical) in 7 groups which renders exceptionally sharp images with minimal flare and chromatic aberration. Optical Image Stabilization helps maintain clear images. The DVCPRO HD codec recording system has a low compression ratio at a video bit rate of 100 Mbps (1080/59.94i, 720/59.94p) making it suitable for recording fast-moving subjects with no motion artifacts other than motion blur.
The camera has a cam-driven manual zoom ring, focus ring and aperture dial. It can record up to four channels of uncompressed digital audio. It offers a FireWire connection (IEEE 1394) and USB PC interface. The camera also has 2 XLR audio inputs with optional phantom power.
