The RED DSMC2 Base Expander adds crucial I/O ports like DC in, video out, 3.5mm audio in/out, and control ports to RED DSMC2 brains. Key features include:
DC power input for powering the camera via AC adapter
Video output via HDMI and SDI ports
3.5mm mic input and headphone output

Add Functionality, Not Bulk. The RED DSMC2 Base Expander keeps your RED rig light while adding what we’d consider necessary I/O ports for power, audio, video out, and camera control. We think it so necessary that we include it with every RED DSMC2 brain that we rent out.
Power. The base expander has the RED standard 6-Pin 1B socket for DC power input, and will also pass through power from attached cable-less battery plates.
Audio I/O. This expander provides a 3.5mm (1/8 in.) stereo mini jack for microphone input and another for headphone output. If you need XLR inputs we also rent the Wooden A-Box XLR Adapter for use with the base expander.
Video Outputs. A full-size HDMI 1.2 port and a 3G-SDI BNC port provide 1080p video output for video monitoring.
SYNC & CTRL Ports. Camera control and other communications are possible with a 4-Pin 00B SYNC port for Genlock, Timecode, or Sync and a 4-Pin 00B CTRL port for tally out and RS-232 Rx/Tx.
