If I’m using a smaller camera or DSLR, this is my go-to. Everything that the original Ronin has is here, but it’s half the weight and easily breaks down for transport. The main factors that give th...

Q & A

  • Can I use accessories with this stabilizer?
    • The Ronin-M was designed to be as small/light as possible, so it’s not suited for complicated rigs. If you want to run a wireless follow focus or other similar accessories, it’ll be difficult, and you’ll do so at your own risk. Consider renting DJI’s Ronin or Extended-Arm Ronin instead.

  • Does this rental include a rod mount?
  • What’s the DJI app’s password?
    • Try 123456. If that doesn’t work, you’ll need to connect the Ronin to a computer using the supplied USB cable and reset the password. You can download the DJI app for Windows/OSX here. In the app, click the large “Reset Password” button and then click “OK.”

  • Is the Ronin easy to pick up and use?
    • The DJI Ronin isn’t what you’d call a “turn-key” solution to camera stabilization. It requires a significant amount of training and practice to get good results, so you’ll want at least one full day of learning before using it on a shoot. Check the “Resources” section of this page for manuals and software. Here’s DJI’s setup video, but some of our customers have found this video helpful as well.

  • What is the maximum supported weight?
    • The Ronin-M supports up to eight pounds. If you’re trying to stabilize a large rig within this weight limitation (Canon C100), you’ll want to rent these. If you’re trying to balance something heavier, check out the DJI Ronin 3-Axis Brushless Gimbal Stabilizer for rigs up to sixteen pounds.

  • Help! I’m in the middle of a shoot and the DJI app says the battery is “not a DJI Intelligent battery”. What should I do?
    • Breath! While the warning sounds scary, it does not affect the performance of the gimbal stabilizer in any way. If time allows, we’re happy to send you a replacement battery so you don’t have to clear the warning every time. Please contact us. “support@lensrentals.com”:mailto:support@lensrentals.com | 901-754-9100

    • “Intelligent” batteries are great and all, but they don’t provide much of a heads up. While we test every battery upon return, this warning generally pops up out of the blue as the battery ages. We see it fairly regularly and are constantly rotating our stock to minimize occurrence. If you do get the warning during your shoot, please let us know so we can be on the lookout upon its return.
