The GoPro Wi-Fi BacPac is designed for use with the GoPro HD Hero 2 Action Camera. It allows full control of settings on up to 50 cameras via the GoPro Wi-Fi Remote (NOT INCLUDED). A Wi-Fi BacPac is needed for every camera you want to control wirelessly. So if you have 4 cameras, you’ll need 4 Wi-Fi BacPac units. The unit is powered by a self-contained lithium battery, which can be charged via USB port with included cable. You can also use your iOS device with free GoPro app to control the the camera wirelessly. An Android version should also be released in the near future.
The Wi-Fi BacPac creates an ad hoc network that the BacPac and Remote communicate over, so you won’t need an actual Wi-Fi signal for use. However, the future GoPro app does require Wi-Fi network signal in order to stream/share video and photos to the internet or to control multiple cameras.
PLEASE NOTE: Programming each Wi-Fi BacPac to a Wi-Fi Remote involves a step-by-step process (page 22-23 of the manual) that must be done to each individual camera / Wi-Fi BacPac. We will try to set this up if you’re renting camera / Wi-Fi Bacpac combos in addition to a Wi-Fi Remote, but we can’t guarantee you won’t have to perform this setup as well. With that said, please allow yourself time to to check the cameras upon arrival and perform setup if needed.
