All-in-One Zoom. With a 35mm-equivalent focal range of 28-280mm, this lens covers most of the range you need. The f/3.5-5.6 aperture improves on the previous generation’s f/4.5-5.8 aperture, enabling slightly better low-light performance.

Power Optical Image Stabilization System. Offering double the stabilization performance over its predecessor’s MEGA Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) system, the in-lens POWER OIS system ensures sharp images even at slower shutter speeds.

High-Speed Stepping Motor. The high-speed stepping motor enables smooth and silent autofocus performance for shooting both still images and video. It also supports high-speed shooting at up to 240 fps to take advantage of contrast autofocus for an extremely responsive system. The internal focusing system means the lens’s size doesn’t change when focusing, allowing a minimum focusing distance of 0.98 ft. at the widest focal lengths (14-21mm) and 1.64 ft. at 22-140mm.

Optics. The optical formula utilizes three aspherical elements and two extra-low dispersion glass elements, effectively eliminating optical aberrations. Multi-coated lens elements help to minimize ghosting and lens flare while maintaining optimum image quality.
