The PocketWizard Plus X Transceiver is a low-cost, straightforward strobe trigger designed for use with strobe lighting and compatible hot shoe flashes. While its big brother the PocketWizard Plus III features an LCD screen for selecting modes and channels, the Plus X takes a more basic approach. It has a large, backlit rotating dial for selecting between, you guessed it, the 10 possible channels. Directly under the dial is a large test button for manually firing. Like the Plus III, the Plus X mounts sideways to minimize visual obstruction between you and your subject. It also features essentially the same housing, with a single auto-sensing 1/8" mini sync port for connecting strobes and cameras.
It offers up to 1600 ft. of working distance, depending on environmental variables. Sync speeds up to 1/250 sec. with focal plane shutters and 1/500 sec. with leaf shutters are possible, with a maximum triggering speed up to 14.5fps. Like all other PocketWizards, the Plus X is backwards-compatible with previous generations. If you’re needs are for an extremely simple-to-use manual (non-TTL) strobe trigger, the Plus X is the way to go.
The Plus X is triggered via hotshoe when attached to a camera and sync cord when attached to a flash. You’ll need one Pocketwizard for each flash unit, as well as one for the camera.
If you are working with shoe-mount flashes
We send one Pocket Wizard to PC cord with each Pocket Wizard. This will allow it to connect to a Canon 580 EX II or Nikon SB900 flash (or other flash that has a PC cable input). Canon 480EX II, Canon 580EX, Nikon SB 600 and Nikon SB 700 flashes DO NOT have PC input.
If you are working with a studio strobe kit
We send one Pocket Wizard to 1/8" mini cord with each Pocket Wizard. If you need a different / additional cord, you will need to add the proper cord to your order. If you don’t rent the proper cord, then your pocket wizard won’t connect to your lights. If the pocket wizards don’t connect to your lights, they won’t flash. If they don’t flash you have just wasted a lot of money.
Just so we’re clear: our website is very advanced but does not have a mind reading feature. We have no idea how you are going to hook up your pocket wizards, what other equipment your are using them with, or what type of cables you may already have. We will send whichever cables and Pocket Wizards you order, or don’t order. If you meant to order it but didn’t, thought it came with the equipment (it doesn’t), or assumed we knew what you would need (we don’t) you will be using very high ISO on your shoot and we will not be able to refund you money.
