The Pentax K-S2 is a consumer-grade DSLR with advanced functionality. Key features include:
20.1 MP APS-C CMOS Sensor. This high-resolution sensor provides great image quality within its normal ISO range of 100-51,200. Like the Pentax K-3, the K-S2 features a user-selectable anti-aliasing filter. The PRIME M II Image Processing Engine enables 5.5 fps continuous shooting.
Autofocus System. The SAFOX X autofocus system uses eleven phase-detection points (nine cross-type) with a sensitivity range of -3 to 18 EV.
Sensor-Shift Image Stabilization. The in-camera image stabilization offers up to three stops of rotational correction to help eliminate camera shake. This system is also used to remove dust and enable AA filter simulation.
Video. The K-S2 shoots Full HD 1920 × 1080p at up to 30 fps, saving videos as MOV files. A built-in stereo mic records audio embedded in the video file. There’s also an in-camera time-lapse mode that captures up to 4K.
Built-in Wi-Fi. This is the first Pentax DSLR to feature built-in Wi-Fi. Like most other manufacturers’ cameras, it allows remote operation and image transfer.
High-Quality Build. Despite its consumer-level focus, the K-S2 still features a weather-resistant build in a compact body. There’s an optical viewfinder with 100% coverage and 0.95x magnification, and a 3.0" 921k-dot vari-angle LCD monitor for live-view shooting and image review. Images are recorded to SDHC/XC memory cards, and the included rechargeable battery is rated for roughly 410 shots per charge.
