The Benro A-2691 Travel Angel tripod with B1 ballhead provides a nice, cost-effective medium duty tripod. It has the same foldover design as their lightweight travel tripod so it maintains the short folded length of 17.7 inches, perfect for traveling. It’s a bit heavier than the ultralight at 4.6 pounds, but is capable of holding a 12 pound load easily (Benro claims double that, but we don’t agree). It will extend to maximum height of 64 inches with the center post extended, has 5-section twist-lock legs that each can be set at individual angles and has rubber feet that retract to reveal spikes.
Please Note: We include the standard Induro PU60 camera plate with this tripod. However, do understand it is a 2 1/4" small camera plate. If you’re planning on using a larger lens, you may want to rent an additional lens plate. We rent four different sizes to give you the most flexibility.
We carry a lot of tripod/ballhead kits. Here’s a quick comparison to help you pick the one that’s right for you, from lightest to heaviest.
Benro Ultralight is the lightest and most transportable tripod we carry. If you need stabilization for a small camera and lens, and want to shed equipment weight where you can, this is the kit for you. MAX LOAD: 6 lbs. MAX HEIGHT: 63 inches.
Benro Medium Duty weighs in almost a full pound heavier than the MeFOTO GlobeTrotter, but is nearly identical in all other specs. Still, the extra weight will offer extra stability when using larger-lens camera combos, such as a 1DX and a 70-200 f2.8 size lens (and even a 300 f2.8 in ideal conditions). MAX LOAD: 12 lbs. MAX HEIGHT: 64 inches.
MeFOTO GlobeTrotter is one inch shorter than the ultralight when it’s collapsed, but offers a maximum capacity comparable to the Benro Medium Duty. As its name indicates, this tripod kit is made for travel. MAX LOAD: 12-15 lbs. MAX HEIGHT: 64.2 inches.
