The Sony Z7U is the smaller, lighter, handheld version of Sony’s S270U professional camcorder.
The Z7U is one of the first prosumer camcorders to feature an interchangeable lens system with a bayonet mount, which allows for standard 1/3" HD video lenses from a variety of manufacturers to be attached directly to the camera body. An adapter can also allow the use of lenses designed for Sony’s digital SLR cameras. 2/3" or 1/2" lenses can be used with a different adapter. The Z7U has 1080 recording capability at 60i. It also offers simultaneous recording to Compact Flash and MiniDV tape.
The Z7U comes with the Zeiss 12x Optical Zoom lens standard, but this camcorder is also compatible with other 1/3" HD lenses with a bayonet mount, including the Fujinon 17×5.
