The PocketWizard Plus III Transceiver is an update to the very popular PocketWizard Plus II workhorse. With the Plus III, PocketWizard has taken the technology from multiple models and combined them into one. It features 32 selectable channels for minimizing interference, as well as PW’s Quad-Zone Triggering for controlling up to four zones of remote cameras / flashes. This function allows simple switching between four different combinations of lighting setups, all from the Plus III on-camera. These changes are made simple by the Plus III’s improved button layout and backlit LCD screen. Its new side profile design and internal antenna makes keeping visual contact with your subject much easier.
Like its predecessor, the Plus III has PW’s Auto-Sensing technology for automated switching between transmit and receive mode. One welcome change from the Plus II is the single sync port for connecting remote flashes and cameras. Also new is the two-stage test button, which allows metering and AF on remote cameras when pressed half-way. While the Plus III has a working range of 1600ft, it features a Repeater Mode that extends the range by using multiple Plus IIIs placed between the main transmitter and remote receiver. The Plus III is backwards-compatible with all previous versions of PocketWizards, including strobe units with built-in PocketWizard receivers.
The Plus III is triggered via hotshoe when attached to a camera and sync cord when attached to a flash. You’ll need one Pocketwizard for each flash unit, as well as one for the camera.
If you are working with shoe-mount flashes
We send one Pocket Wizard to PC cord with each Pocket Wizard. This will allow it to connect to a Canon 580 EX II or Nikon SB900 flash (or other flash that has a PC cable input). Canon 480EX II, Canon 580EX, Nikon SB 600 and Nikon SB 700 flashes DO NOT have PC input.
If you are working with a studio strobe kit
We send one Pocket Wizard to 1/8" mini cord with each Pocket Wizard. If you need a different / additional cord, you will need to add the proper cord to your order. If you don’t rent the proper cord, then your pocket wizard won’t connect to your lights. If the pocket wizards don’t connect to your lights, they won’t flash. If they don’t flash you have just wasted a lot of money.
Just so we’re clear: our website is very advanced but does not have a mind reading feature. We have no idea how you are going to hook up your pocket wizards, what other equipment your are using them with, or what type of cables you may already have. We will send whichever cables and Pocket Wizards you order, or don’t order. If you meant to order it but didn’t, thought it came with the equipment (it doesn’t), or assumed we knew what you would need (we don’t) you will be using very high ISO on your shoot and we will not be able to refund you money.
