The Sony NEX-VG30 Interchangeable Lens HD Camcorder is the updated, third generation of the large-sensor Handycam camcorder. Key features include:

16.1MP Exmor APS HD CMOS Sensor. The Sony NEX-VG30 Interchangeable Lens HD Camcorder’s sensor is significantly larger than a conventional camcorder’s sensor. It’s large enough to give you creative control over what’s in focus and what’s not, facilitating cinematic-looking video.

Swiveling LCD Touchscreen. The 3.0-in. Xtra Fine LCD swivels 270° to let you see what’s in the frame as you shoot from any angle. It’s also a touchscreen that gives you direct control over menu functions. When you close the LCD panel, you have access to the assignable control dial.

AVCHD Files. The NEX-VG30 records AVCHD files (up to 24 Mbps) to either memory stick or SD/SDHC/SDXC cards, and it allows you to directly copy these files to hard drives. Further features include RAW-format still-image capture (up to the sensor’s 16.1MP size, of course) and 5.1 surround-sound recording with audio-level control.
